Hello, Johnston County neighbor! How are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along?
Regardless of whether or not you’re actively hitting the gym or working on another personal wellness plan, your home definitely needs a wellness plan of its own! Whether you’re selling or staying in your home in 2019, it needs your attention to stay in shape.
Home Maintenance 101 from the Tina Barletta Team
Here at the Tina Barletta Team, homes are our passion, so we’re bringing you a fitness plan to enhance the physical look and condition of your home. Last time, we covered Lawn and Shrub Maintenance, and now it’s time for Part 3 of Home Maintenance 101. Here we go… 3, 2, 1…
Dress Up Your Front Porch
Anyone who walks up to your front door is checking out your front porch. How is that first impression treating your home—will your visitors (or buyers) be appalled by what they see, or will they be eager to come inside and see what’s next? Your front porch can say a lot about your home… what’s yours saying?
Here are some tips for making your front porch really sell your home (even if you’re not selling your home).
Power Wash to Sparkle
We talked about power washing in our first Home Maintenance 101 tip, and we can’t emphasize enough how big a difference a little power washing can make. Remove dirt and grime, even mildew and mold, and make your home sparkle… starting with that front porch.
Paint Those Rails
If you have rails leading up to your porch, take a look at their condition. Are they rusty, chipped or discolored? Even if they’re still in good physical condition, these aesthetic eyesores can make your rails appear frail or even damaged. Fortunately, there’s an easy fix for that: paint! A fresh coat of paint can make a big difference.
Give Your Front Door Some TLC
Next, check out your front door. How’s it looking? Dull and dingy? Faded and old? Your front door is the entrance to your home, so make it bright, welcoming, and beautiful! Fresh paint or even a new door might be in order if your door isn’t dressing up your home.
Add Some Seasonal Decor
If the rest is looking good, it’s time to add the finishing touches! How about a little seasonal decor to really make your visitors (or buyers) say, “Wow!”. Now that spring is around the corner, you might consider bright colors or pretty pastels. (If you’re selling, you probably want to stay away from any religious or holiday-specific decor).
