Spring is in full swing and summer is right around the corner! How’s your back deck or patio looking? Is it ready for grilling and chilling season? If not, then it’s time to get it ready with The Tina Barletta Team’s Home Fitness Tip #6.
Whether you’re selling or staying in your home this year, we to help you get it in shape. Here’s our next key fitness tip. Are you ready?
Fitness Tip #6: Spiff Up Your Back Deck or Patio

Once the pollen is done, you’ll need to powerwash your deck, patio, and outdoor furniture to clear away all that pesky pollen! But before you roll up the hose and call it a day, here are a few other tips for making your back deck and yard into something really special.
Powerwash & Polish

Deck looking grubby or faded? Start by giving it a good powerwash to remove any grime or dirt. Then you’ll probably want to repaint or stain to ensure the wood stays strong against the elements.
Check Your Railings

Next, take a look at your deck railings. How are they holding up? You’ll definitely want to replace anything loose, weak, or rotting. And while you’re at it, you can think about making some improvements, too—for both safety and appearance.
Update Your Furniture & Pillows

Is your deck furniture looking worn or faded? Might be time for an update! Even if you can’t afford to spring for new chairs or tables, simply replacing old pillows with new happy ones can breathe new life into your patio.
Bring Some Potted Plants Up

Flowers and plants look nice in the yard, but they do a lot for a deck, too! Not only do they add nice, bright colors, plants can also create some decoration and depth. Use containers and plants of varying heights, and be sure to spring for some nicer pots—none of that cheap black plastic, please!
Add a Screen or Some Shades

Even if you love your neighbors, a little privacy can be nice sometimes, and that Carolina sun gets hot! Adding a screen or an overhead cover can provide protection, peace, and even enhance the overall aesthetics.
Give It Some Light

Installing lights on your deck or patio has two benefits. First, it allows you to use your deck for longer periods of time, i.e. after the sun goes down. Secondly, it improves the overall safety of your home by increasing visibility after dark.
Wire It Up

If you’re wiring for light, why not for sound, too? A weatherproof outdoor sound system is a fun and fairly simple idea that really adds the finishing touch to everything from lively barbecues to elegant wine tastings.
