There’s no place like home… especially if that home is Clayton! Now that fall is here, the Clayton Harvest Festival is just around the corner, and if you’ve been in previous years, you know it’s a pretty spectacular event. If you haven’t had the pleasure yet… well, you’re in for a treat!
Here’s everything you need to know about the Clayton Harvest Festival.
It’s Five Days Filled with Fun
The big event starts on Wednesday, October 30 with a Festival Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 5pm in Horne Square. The ceremony includes band performances by local schools, as well as a Presentation of Colors by Clayton High School. Afterwards, carnival rides and games run through 10pm.
And that’s just the beginning of what’s to come! More rides, events, refreshments, contests, entertainment, and performances continue all weekend long.
There’s a Halloween Trunk-or-Treat Event
On Thursday, October 31—the day of Halloween—head out to Town Square for a little Trunk or Treating, as well as food trucks and craft beer from Deep River Brewing Company. There will also be a showing of Monster House as part of Movie Night! Over at Horne Square, the carnival rides will be rolling from 5pm – 10pm.
There are Quite a Few Contests to Enjoy
On Saturday, November 2, the carnival opens at 10am, but the BBQ-ing starts bright and early at 9am at the United Community Bank parking lot with Squealing on the Square. The People’s Choice competition (i.e. you get to taste and judge) starts at 11am. All the BBQ-eating is followed by a Hot Dog Eating Contest at noon, and pig cooking demonstrations at 1pm.
There are a Number of Cool Shows, Too
Along Main Street in Downtown Clayton, a huge array of shows and demonstrations will be underway, including Clayton’s largest Vendor Fair, the Clayton Harvest Festival Car Show, the International Harvesters Tractor Show, and the Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson Bike Show. There will be Blackwoods Stables Pony Rides, too.
And There’s Tons of Talent to Enjoy
Enjoy live shows, concerts, and performances all weekend long at the Community Garden Main Stage. There will be shows by singers, dancers, athletes, bands, solo acts, and more.
Bonus: Saturday night closes out with the Shindig Music Festival with 20+ beers on tap at Town Square!
The Latin American Festival Happens Sunday!
Sunday closes the festival with more carnival rides (opening at noon) and the Latin American Festival at Town Square. Here, enjoy a Vendor Fair, food trucks, and craft beer from Deep River Brewing Company. There’ll also be several dance groups, bands, and performers, too.
