Buyers often sign on with an agent at different stages of the game, but it’s an important part of the home buying experience and should be one of the first things you do! What can a real estate professional do for you if you’re buying a home? That’s what we’re going to answer in this week’s Real Estate Basic Training course… Lesson 5: Why You Need a Realtor.
What’s the Point in Having a Realtor When Buying a Home?
Think of your agent as your secret weapon; he or she is going to help you in all your real estate transactions, and they will do it at no upfront cost to you! Why wouldn’t you use an agent?
How can a Realtor help me buy a home?
One of the biggest things your agent can do is help you navigate the housing market in your area. A good agent has access to information about homes that haven’t quite made it to the market yet, and as their client, you’ll be on the list of people to contact whenever the perfect home hits the market.
Your agent also helps you navigate through paperwork and the buying process, ensuring that you’re getting the best deal possible. And if you work with a Realtor (versus just an agent), he or she will also abide by a code of ethics, keeping you protected while getting you the best deal possible.
How do I get a Realtor?
It’s important to consider the amount of experience an agent has, especially working in the area in which you’re interested. You’ll also want to make sure that your agent works full-time as an agent—you want someone who can help you when you need it, not just the few hours they work each day.
Don’t feel awkward or pushy by interviewing or talking to multiple agents; you’ll more than likely have to sign a contract that states you’ll work exclusively with that agent for a certain period of time, so it’s important to feel comfortable with your agent!.
